Now that the Internet has found its way into the classroom and even childrens' bedrooms, parents have every reason to be concerned about what they are doing and being exposed to online.

Half of all children between the ages of six and twelve surf the web. In addition to the many positive and constructive possibilities the Internet offers, many dangers such as pornography, criminals, viruses or fraud are lurking just beneath the surface. Parents and teachers need to make children aware of the potential dangers and take advantage of tools that safeguard them automatically.

Children should follow certain rules under the motto “don't forbid, inform”:

  • Don't ever give out personal information in chat rooms – everyone there is a stranger
  • Grown-ups need to know when children get weird or upsetting messages while online
  • Downloading is not allowed unless a parent or teacher says so

To meet the challenges of protecting children from inappropriate web content, Cobion has developed OrangeBox Web Home. The "Family Filter" allow parents to set the rules and parameters for online activity, which children can't override, finally making the vision of the “Internet safe for children” in reality.
